Martial Arts

Martial Arts The collective name given to all forms of self defence and offensive movements and techniques From Japan to Brazil, from Indonesia to Iran, martial arts forms can be found worldwide, with each and every style having its own particular flavour. Some tend to emphasise striking with knees, elbows and fists, while others prefer to get in close, take you down to the ground and snap joints and apply chokes. There is something for everyone out there if youre willing to look.

Coach Silmon has been involved in martial arts in one form or another for the last 27 years, having had training in Judo, boxing, Wing Chun Kung Fu and Northern Preying Mantis Kung Fu. However it was when he discovered the indigenous fighting arts of Indonesia, collectively known as Pencak Silat, that he felt "this is what I have been looking for!"

Indonesia, the huge sprawling archipelago nation, has over 12000 islands, the largest being Sumatra and Java, where as it happens most of the best Silat can be found. Again, there are many styles of Pencak Silat each emphasising something a little different. Coach Johnny has focussed on the Cimande style of West Java since early 2000s, which is renowned for its bone breaking and limb destruction capabilities. This system is available to those that are serious about studying such an in depth syllabus. Other Silat systems will be available for tuition once Coach is happy he has fully mastered them and been approved by his teachers in Indonesia.

If what you are after is simply some effective self defence, then that service is also available for tuition. On the other hand there might be something really rare you interesting in learning! If so, contact Coach as he might be able to point you in the right direction!
